Animal Kingdom - November 1st - Day 3

Here we are on day 3 already.  This was an early morning... we had an ADR at 7:30 for Ohana's at the Polynesian Resort so we had to get moving.  Dominic found these on the bed that morning:
Invitations for breakfast at Ohana, lunch at Yak & Yeti, dinner at Boma and after we got back that night, he got a "You Survived Dinosaur".
It was a very cold morning as you can tell by the look on Dominic's face.
There were 3 families on the bus headed for the Magic Kingdom (TTC)... the bus driver was more than happy to take us to each hotel separately instead of having to wait for the monorail.  We got off the bus at the Polynesian Resort.
The grounds were beautiful.  We were so happy to be going INSIDE a building to escape from the cold.  Just as Pop Century had, the Poly had a pumpkin decorating contest going on for their workers.  There were some really great creations:
The lobby at this resort is just beautiful.
We found Ohana's and checked in.  They took us immediately and gave us lei's.  Then they took us over to a little hut to take our family picture (later on they came to the table with the picture and for only $29.99 you could purchase the 8x10.  Yeah, no thanks.
The restaurant is really cool, lots of tiki type decor.  We booked a dinner at Ohana's for our next trip.  I can't wait to see that fire bar in action!
Dominic was having a great time and soon the characters started rolling out one by one.
Stitch was first.. he acted really silly.
Lilo was so sweet.
Then Mickey came out!  He was a surprise, we were not expecting him!
and Pluto of course.
Then they handed out instruments for the kids to play when they had their parade with the characters.  That was very cute & Dominic had so much fun.
Now onto the food porn.
This juice is so amazing... I could've sat there forever and just drank glass after glass.  Yum!
The pineapple bread... so yummy!
The fruit platter.  This meal was served family style.  It's all you can eat but they bring you platters full of food and if you want more, just ask.  It's a lot nicer than having to get up to go to a buffet.
The breakfast foods: scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, fried potatoes, biscuits, sausage & bacon.
and of course Mickey waffles!
Sooo... since the last time we came to Disney World was over my birthday, I got to wear a birthday pin and got special treats throughout the day.  Dominic requested that he got to wear a birthday pin this trip (even though his birthday is in July).  I compromised and told him one day he could pick to wear the pin so this was the day that he picked.  And out comes our waitress with this:
She even sang Happy Birthday to him!  We were so stuffed, we couldn't even eat the cupcake so she packaged it up in a cup for us to take it with us.

Dominic could not resist getting his picture taken with this guy.  He reminded him of the dum dum gum gum guy from Night at the Museum.  lol...
We walked to the buses and boarded to go to Animal Kingdom.  We got there shortly after the park opened and headed straight for Expedition Everest.

On our way, we ran into this guy:

Flik was great!  He wrote in the autograph book "Happy Birthday Luv Flik"... great! lol.. his handlers were super funny as well.  Back to walking...
Dominic got measured and just made the 44" mark.  We were good to go.
Here's proof of us being in line:
and then the waterworks started.  Dominic lost it.  We could've literally walked on the ride, there was no line but he was NOT having it.  Darn it!  lol... I was so close!  We exited out the chicken exit and got on with our day.  There was a super nice lady willing to take our picture by this statue looking creature.
We made our way over to Dinosaur.  Another one of Dominic's "faves" (not!)  It took some convincing but he was willing to ride that again... yay!
Doesn't he look happy in this picture?  So much better than the picture they took of us on the ride.
He was SO scared... lol... those dinos are huge on that ride and so lifelike.  I love it!
Next up we headed for Nemo the Musical.  I didn't think this was going to be a great show but I was really surprised once I saw it.  I can't wait to go back!
After the show we went to get a quick snack, a root beer float:

We got some Photopass pictures taken:

We took a walk over to the Tree of Life for a few pictures.
I love this one.
Then we ran into Terk.
We headed over to Safari to grab some fastpasses.  Dominic practicing his skills.
Then we went to catch the train for Rafiki's Planet Watch.
As soon as we exited the train we saw a cute sculpture of 2 elephants.  Perfect picture opportunity so we walked over to it.  There was a lady getting her picture taken so we waited next to the man taking the picture and as soon as she was done, Dominic started walking up to it.  Here comes a kid and his dad... the kid ran full speed and jumped on the elephants and then the dad shoo'd Dominic out of the picture.  Really!?  I gave him a dirty look and told Dominic we would do it later (which we never got to)... some people need common sense & manners!

We missed the Planet Watch on our last trip so we were excited to see what was inside.  The entrance is amazing... so full of animals!
Dominic was so excited to see rhinos just like in Donkey Kong.
The guy below was showing everyone some sort of snake.  Yuck!
We checked out the touch screen interactions.
and the operating room:
Then we spotted some characters!!!
Jiminy Cricket
Rafiki
We left the Planet Watch and got back on the train.  We talked the whole ride with an older guy who's birthday it was as well (lol)... they even sang Happy Birthday to Dominic.  After getting off the train, we headed for the Kilimanjaro Safari and used our fastpasses.
We saw a ton of animals and despite being front row, Dominic had enough, he almost fell asleep on the ride several times.  Then we got held up by rhinos.  They were in the road and refused to move.  When we finally got to go around them, this was the shot that I got:
By this point we were late for our lunch ADR at Yak & Yeti.  Once we exited the safari, we quickly made our way to the restaurant.
Dominic posed for a picture.
We waited about 5 minutes and then we were brought upstairs to our table.  The lady that seated us told us that everything in the restaurant had been imported from India.  So cool.  We got a nice table on the "balcony" of the upstairs.
Dominic ordered a root beer and got straight to work on coloring.
Dominic ordered the chicken bites with french fries for $7.49.
There were a LOT of fries but he said everything was good.
As an appetizer I got:
Wok-Fried Green Beans - battered green beans, sweet Thai chili dipping sauce $7.99
This was excellent and there wasn't a bite left :)
As an entree I got:
Crispy Mahi Mahi - filet of mahi mahi, Japanese bread crumbs, Cantonese sweet and sour sauce, jasmine rice, stir-fried vegetables $22.99
The fish was very bland.  It tasted like the breaded type that you buy in the supermarket... nothing special.  I didn't care for the seasoning on the veggies.  I ate maybe 1/3 of this before ordering dessert.
Fried Wontons - Skewers of fresh pineapple and cream cheese wontons, vanilla ice cream, honey vanilla drizzle $7.99
This was awesome!  I tried to eat as much as I could... sooo good!
For dessert, Dominic got the ice cream sundae with caramel on top - $1.49
He loved it.

2 table service credits used - 20 table service credits left
Actual Cost - $54.43
Grand Dining Total - $318.54

Overall, we enjoyed Yak & Yeti.  I'm not sure if we would rush back but maybe someday.

Dominic had to take a picture with the Buddha before we left.

We went straight over to the store near Dinosaur.  We wanted to buy the Life game with the theme of the Haunted Mansion that we saw before.  Dominic was goofing around in the store.
After our shopping spree, we went over to see "It's Tough to be a Bug".  Last time we were seated on the edge of the aisle and didn't get to feel the full effects.  This time we were right in the middle.  It was great!
Right after we headed out to find a spot for the parade.
Everyone was feeding this bird:
The parade started. It was neat seeing all of the different animal floats but other than that, we didn't really care for it.
We made our way to the front of the park and took a few quick photos.
We caught the bus for Animal Kingdom Lodge and we were headed for our ADR at Boma.
This resort was unbelievable.  I could've spent a day here alone just looking around at everything.

We arrived at Boma right on time and got a pager.  We took a potty break and while we were in the bathroom, the pager started buzzing.
We were seated and drink orders were taken.  Then we went to the buffet.  This was the longest buffet I had ever seen... so many choices and we were so full :(
We loaded up our plates.
Dominic's:
My plate:
Our desserts:
Everything was so good.  I wish we could've eaten more.  We already made reservations for this place on our next trip and I'm going to starve myself that day.
When we were all done, Dominic got a special surprise!
He loved the cupcake but even more, he loved the gummy bears (who doesn't!?)

2 Boma Dinner Buffets
2 table service credits used - 18 table service credits left
Actual Cost - $52.17
Grand Dining Total - $370.71

Afterwards, we took a stroll to check out the savannah behind AKL.  Amazing.  So beautiful.  I envy anyone who stays at this resort.
We checked out some of the animals.
We took our time finding our way back to the buses.
Checking out the gift shop:
Once we got back to Pop, we relaxed a bit and lights were out by 9:00!  It was the best night of sleep we had the whole trip.  Dominic slept 10 1/2 hours.  Tomorrow is Hollywood Studios day.
